Default V mount?

This is my first post on S2ki (always post on HT)

I just have a few hopefully simple questions about V mounts. Im working on boosting my S2000 right now. Im just waiting for the turbo to get here along with some random gaskets and lines to come in the mail.

How much of the frame had to be fabricated?
What radiator did you use?
If you had a FMIC did you notice a faster spool with a V mount?
Would you recommend just doing a top mount?

thanx

Vmounts are basically meant to keep the everything cooler as it allows the radiator to not be blocked by the intercooler and such lowering the engine temps. As for it speeding up boost I am not sure but I doubt it. you can use the stock radiator and be just fine. if your talking about a top mount manifold its all in personal preference and if you do go that route most end up relocating or moving the battery or fuse box around. As for the fabrication part the only thing I remember being quoted was to have custom tabs and or mounts made to hold the intercooler and radiator in place. as for real experiance IDK.

I hope this helps a little bit. If I am wrong someone please correct me.

Once the stock intake is removed you have a ton or room for a v mount setup. So I dont think you will have to touch the frame at all unless it is to create mounting points. Also The theory is that vmounts require much less piping but I'm not sure if its enough for a noticeable reduction in spool. I would also venture a guess that it is also beneficial to aerodynamics. Since air will no longer be trapped in the engine bay, air going through the intercooler will escape through the hood and air hitting the radiator will travel below the car (possible adding downforce).

Since day one I thought "man this car is just perfect for a v-mount" hopefully one day I can have one too! Good luck with the project, cant wait to see more vmount setups.

I always thought it would be a nice winter time project for me if i turbo my car. It seems like it would be fairly easy to do. I would just make some bottom brackets down by the bottom of the radiator and some mounts on the crossmember to clamp around the top or sides depending on how big of an intercooler you use. The just use some top feed ends on the intercooler and knock about 2.5 feet of piping out of the whole system. It would work GREAT with the ASM hood

A Spec Tuning (yes, the RX-7 guys) and Lovefab have both done v-mount setups before on the S2000. I would suggest contacting them.

No downforce will come of this.
