Default Visteon Radiator

Hey guys currently I am running an OEM S2000 motor, because I am not reinstalling my built block till next spring (blown headgasket). Only because I barely have any more summer days to drive in Illinois..

I have a Visteon Radiator and I am running a GT35R Full-Race Kit and I have some minor overheating issues. I only have the one fan that the radiator came with and I don't if that would be enough to cool the car. And other than that I don't have other supporting mods like a Mugen Fan Switch, etc.. Soo any ideas on if I might need a second fan and if thats what most of you guys do? Also, any other supporting mods that should be used to control temperature better?

**Temperature-wise the car stays steady at 8 bars, but occasionally spiked to 10-11 bars, which is why I stopped and garaged the car till we fix this issue**

Currently going to add water sprayers to my set-up because my tuner wanted to add it as a precaution. But tuner believes I might need a second fan to move more air.. I hope these ideas work...

Does your fan have a shroud? If not, that's a definite no no.

Post a link to the fan so we can see it.

Was the head checked for flatness after you blew the HG and overheated on the other motor? Or did you install a new longblock?

HI James, I have the same rad and spal fan, I have no issues with it at all and is really efficient compared to oem. The only time it ever gave me grief was when I was using AC on full and outside temps were unbearable. Since then I bought an additonal fan, and haven't had that problem.

Also running a mugen thermo switch.

This is the fan I bought "VA11-AP8/C-57A 10" Fan w/Packard, I had to modify the center bracket and drill 2 holes on the rad edge to make a perfect fit,and its on sale at spalusa.com http://www.spalusa.com/store/main.as...oryBody&c=FALO

James, I've just recently been thinking the same thing! it's a little bitterwsweet that I'm not the only one with the same exact rad and 1 shroudless fan and some heat issues.

My setup is: full race kit with gt3076 pushing 19psi.

At most outside temps (75-85 degrees), I'm within operating temps: 195 - 210. set the fans to come on at 200 and off at 190. BUT once the fan is on, it takes a good 5 mintues to bring them back down. longer if I'm driving around town. It's almost never off once it the fans are on.

Going uphilll for long periods of time makes my temps rise steadily even while the fan is blowing away

And as with Opiston, using the AC will cause my temps to rise also. It's the only reason that I have my laptop sitting shotgun with me.

I've come to think (and Opistons extra fan mod supports this thought) that the 1 fan WITHOUT a shroud is not doing it for me. I have been looking to get a custom shroud similar to DesertWanderer's (he has the same radiator) keep us posted on what you decide to do

I also have that radiator and added a second fan to the open side.

I have found the overall quality of it to be only so-so. However I don't have any cooling issues to report. I did replace the cap it came with to a different one that lowered the pressure back down to the stock 1.1 bar. Was told the higher pressure might cause head gasket issues, don't know how true that is.

Hmmm I will look into the cap issue.. I really didn't know the different caps made a big deal.. shows how little I know about radiators! Thanks for the input guys keep them coming!
