Default vortec vs. comptech

i have been playing the NA game for awhile and have been decently pleased with the results but now of course the SC bug has bit(en) me. i am a total noob so bare with me. heres what i know...

vortec=7lbs boost, AC,BOV typicall =300-315rwhp

comptech=5lbs of boost, have to buy AC,BOV=280-300whp.

either of these systems will be bolted onto my car with either test pipe and HKS HI-power exhaust or a custome 70mm headerback that have too.

what is the better SC system? best bang for the buck? prices? predicted power with 70mm/HKS exhaust?

thanks guys!

Check the FAQ. I wanted a Vortech but got the Comptech w/ AC because of the GB. It was at a very good price. Sure it produces less hp out of the box, but I will be getting the 7lb pulley eventually.

Yea I've had my comptech kit installed for a week or so. I still don't know which kit is better. LOL

Haven't driven a vortec kit yet.

And I'm gonna up the boost soon to get the same power range as the vortec.

An dyou don't need to buy a BOV with the comptech. It has a bypass valve that is recirculated.

Ok, this is my experience from before and after the S/C. Anyone, feel free to correct me if I'm incorrect. I will tried to be as unbias as I can, since I went to Comptech myself.

1.)(Main reason)Heard many story about the vortec black box being faulty as hell, causing the car to die in the middle of traffic.

2.)Vortech require drillings for the unit to be installed, vs the comptech was just 100% bolt on.

3.)Comparing the shape of the intake box, the Comptech will cause majority of the strut bar(if you plan to install or have one) to not fit without cutting the intake box. Vortec will have the same trouble, but not as much.

4.)Heard more overall issues with the Vortec when I was doing research.

5.)It's all about the bling factor. The blower looks the same, but the airbox in the Vortec is fugly.

Hope this help.
