Its all about safety. 7lbs is basically the very border line you can run without an aftercooler(not sure if you're getting the aftercooler). Anything pass 7lbs, a aftercooler is a must. When you have the aftercooler and is running 7lbs, you are actually running 6.5lbs, since you lose .5lb from the aftercooler(more pipe to fill air with).

Even if you have a aftercooler, one thing you have to keep in mind for going with the pulley, is that you you might be too lean on top end. You can turn up the fuel to fix that, but then you'll be running too rich on the low end. Its like, which side do you want to cover? I don't think that there's anything you can do about that, unless you have an AEM EMS which cost like 2k after tunning.

With an AEM EMS and an upgrade the pulley, a good tuner can squeeze out another ~50 more hp(and thats being modest) on top of what the S/C can give you.

?
50hp? Really? If my tuner would have gotten me 50hp on top of my gains from the stock Comptech unit with the EMS I'd trust him to watch my dog. If he netted me 100 I'd quit my job and be his latin house boy for a year. 150? Don't even ask...

You will NOT get an extra 50hp ("conservatively speaking") from simply adding an EMS to a stock SC setup. You WILL (depending on who tunes it) have a safely tuned S2000 with room to grow into something with even MORE balls.

You can...just beware of some minor drivability stumbles and reset your ecu on occasion and you should be good (after a professional tune by someone familiar with the platform and reputable). I know because I have a Comptech SC/AC with a VAFC II.

So you are saying that the setup that came from Comptech is very efficient? Even with a properly tuned EMS and a upgraded pulley, say....9lbs or more? As far as I'm concerned, Comptech states that the S/C unit will give you around 100hp to the wheel. Taken that a stock S2000 have about(on average) 190rwhp , the S/C will only put you around 280rwhp. And considered that that are number of people are in the range of 330-340rwhp with their S/C unit regardless of Vortec and Comptech. I guess it really depends on where you live and how good of a tuner is available in your area.

I guess being a resident of Florida, we have a good number of awesome tuners that can squeeze out that kind of number,......so I guess we are spoiled down here. At the same time, versionJDM already has tp and exhaust, that kind of number is by no mean, impossible. If its still unbelievable, I can refer you to a few flordia 2ki member that put out numbers that are even high with basically the same mod + some reliability mods. They have it listed out in their sig.

Of course you'll get 50hp running a bigger pulley. You didn't say anything about a pulley. I live 20min from Inline Pro...no extra tuning help needed. Luckily I snagged one of the last GPW's from 01 available...they came with an extra 50hp from the factory...phew!

Or maybe you should research this a little before you commit to one of them?
