In the process of trying to mount the black box and the vortech manual does not have the proper pictures for the mounting location.

I did a search and read xviper's DIY and did not see a picture of the mounting location of the timing controller and MAP controller.

Can someone provide a picture or decribe where to mount these 2 boxes?

Anyone? The first step on the vortech install manual says to remove the yellow wire harness from underneath the steering shaft. I am assuming that this is where they want us to mount the black box bracket, am i right?

This is very frustrating because the manual says refer to a certain picture but the picture they have are pictures of the air box?! not the black boxes.

 

Alright first off, DO NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS WHEN WIRING UP THE BLACK BOX, YOUR CAR WILL NOT START OR WORK PROPERLY. You need to follow the wiring diagram. And what I did was zip tied the black box under my dash and then velcrod the other little box on top of it. When sitting in the car you cannot see the box at all.

 

How are you wiring the box? I would solder them followed by shrink tube, it is very important that those connections are solid as a rock.

 

This is exaclty what we did, soldered and shrink wrapped the connections (really clean install and wiring job). And we did not follow the written instructions and just followed the wiring diagram. Will be using T-tap connectors to tap it to the wiring on the ECU.

DJpeake10, where under the dash did you zip tie the box? Is it near the steering shaft?

 

yes it is near the steering shaft. Hold it up there and zip tie around the black side mounts of the box. This is just what I did and it sits up there perfectley, and out of sight. Vortech kind of leaves this part up to the installer, but the main part is the connections so if you are good there you are on your way my man.

Thanks man! crossing my fingers that the black box works. Pretty confident with the wiring work, pretty straight forward if you look at the wiring diagram.
