Here is my problem. I am planning on buying a used supercharger but the black box included with the kit is no good. Everything else is fine, with around 5k miles. Well I call Vortech about a replacement unit and I get quoted in the range of 1000$. This makes me very reluctant to buy the kit. My basic question is this: is there any better alternative to the stock timing box? Keep this in mind, I have little to no good tuners in the area and this is my daily driver. Any opinions are appreciated.

 

Alternatives will not be much cheaper and tuning will be required with those. Unless you change your mind about buying the Vortech black boxes (there are 2), you should step away from this one.

 

I have a used full Vortech system for sale. It was only used for 100 miles and is in the FS section.

I posted in the WTB section for a black box. That would be my best option for now.
