what supercharger does the SOS kit use? that it has self contained oil? and does that mean no tapping of the oil pan?
They both use the same head unit.

the one thing i remembered reading about the Vortech was that you had to tap the oil pan or something like that.

i would just prefer to have the SL one on the SOS. i think even the non self-lubricated one, you didn't have to tap the oil pan either.

u need to choose if you want tuner or bolt on and go. if tuner, VT would be awesome and i beleive cheaper. if bolt on and go with reflash, wait, does VT do that also? if not, SOS then for that setup.

eitherway, i wouldnt go from an 03 to an 07-09. F drive by wire and more complicated standalone solutions.

for all the money it will cost, i would put a f22 drivetrain 04-05 with cluster in your ap1 instead

00-05 FTW

VT does a hondata reflash also.

I'm still leaning towards SOS for next year myself, I like the install and VT support can be spotty.

In my opinion, in person, the SOS is higher in quality. For $6K you can get the SOS Stage2 kit (includes AEM EMS, injectors, and fuel pump). With the SOS, the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley are clearly visible and it takes less than 5 minutes to adjust the belt tension (no need to jack up the car). From what I read, you have to jack up the car with the VT kit for this task. Also, there is no external coolant reservoir for the SOS aftercooler.

I just bought the Vortech kit for my 06. I've had nothing but problems and support sucks balls. I only went with them because I figured they would be the first to get CARBed and I'll likely be back in CA at some point. Now I regret it...

Kit showed up without the reflash voucher for Hondata (but on a positive note, they sent many extra stickers and license plate frames in the box ), so by the time I was able to get that squared away, the car was sitting with everything else installed for a few days.

Kit was missing a few bolts, and had a bunch of extra parts that don't get used on my car.

Many of the bolts that were described in the install manual as being hex head were allen head, so instead of using an air ratchet, I got to use a set of allen keys. Not a big deal in itself, but a pain in the ass...

Air filter doesn't fit in the airbox. I used the grinder on the box, but still no go. The filter is just too wide. They didn't believe me, said to send pictures, so I did, and no response.

Car knocks at 4000 RPM under WOT. Vortech support said that I need to get them a fuel pressure reading and go from there because maybe the fuel pump isn't up to the task or something. I asked if I needed to drop a heat range on the plugs, and they said no. Now, I'm no expert since I've only built a few motors in my life, but I'm wondering how a fuel pump wouldn't be able to handle the demand at 4000, but would be able to handle 5000-8000 with no issues. I changed to a lower heat range plug and I think it went away, but I didn't get to test much before the next problem...

Now, the blower started screaming, even at idle. I'm guessing a bearing is very unhappy. Oil level in the blower is fine, so now I get to take the whole damn thing apart to send the blower to VT so they can look at it.

sounds like a bearing failure. the turn around time is suppose to be two weeks, but good luck on getting it back by then.
