Default Vortech V2 makes clattering noise while idle

I just had a Vortech V2 installed on my 2003 AP1. The SC is making clattering noises intermittently while the car is idle. The noise went away once I rev up (not sure if it went away or the noise was covered by the sound of exhaust). I talked to tech guy at Vortech and they said it's normal.

I'm wondering if any of you guys with a Vortech kit experiencing the same issue.

Thanks!

The Paxton blowers definitely make some funky sounds. Mines the same way at idle. Completely normal

Thanks guys, really appreciate the input. Finally got a chance to take a video of the noise. Is this what you guys are experiencing?

Also, can anyone tell me what is this piece circled in red? I haven't seen it in other Vortech kit.

That looks like the 928 Motorsports boost limiter valve. They have shown to be really ineffective on this car.

How much boost are you currently making and what size pulley? Is that bleeding off?

I'm running 3.5" pulley. I haven't tuned the car yet, so doesn't really know what's the exact boost and power I am making.

What does the boost limiter valve do?

It limits the boost when running a small pulley. However they don't work on this car.
You're not driving the car or at least going into boost without it being tuned are you? At least have a wideband gauge hooked up?

Are you ap1 or ap2? 3.5" is a tiny pulley. I just ordered a 3.6" which is about 16 psi at 9k.

What injectors and engine management do you have?

I just picked it up from my mechanic, with a simple tune on Kpro by my mechanic. I just drove it back from the shop very conservatively (keeping it under 4k rpm), don't plan on driving it until it get dyno tuned.

From your description, it sounds like it has the same function as BOV, am I right? If not, what's the difference between the two?

Mine is ap1, pulley might be 3.6", I'm not exactly sure, but it's definitely smaller than 4". I have 1000cc injectors and KPro.

There already is a bov on there. It is similar to a wastegate but way too small to actually bleed enough air off to keep it at a set boost level.

I'd get a boost and wideband gauge ASAP to be able to monitor things.

I do have boost and wideband afr gauge. What's the "normal" range for the boost and wideband? Sorry for the noob question, I'm totally new in the FI department and really appreciate your feedback.

The next time I drive my car will be on the trip to the tuner. Not going to take any risk driving it untuned.
