And I thought the ILP log was among the most inefficient manifolds out there together with other logs.
The Inline Pro log isn't that inefficient of a log and is capable of very good horsepower. It is not your typical log that's for sure.
I made 457 hp at 16 psi on a Dyno Dynamics dyno with a 2mm head gasket and 5965B turbo with my Inline pro kit. Jeff eves has made very good horsepower on MANY Inline Pro kits, check out his dyno folder on his website.

At what RPM you have the VTEC switchover? If you have a AEM maybe try upping the switchover to about 6.5krpms or higher, I have seen cars with restrictive turbo/manifolds that the HI cam lobes made less power at lower changeover settings back pressure too high for high duration cams at a given rpm. With High duration cams and too high of back pressure exhaust gasses actually may go back to the cylinder and contaminate the mixture. If you move up the changeover the engine can get enough momentum or flow though the head in order to engage the high cams and not loose exhaust velocity and finally run higher duration on top. I think that at least you can get 25whp or more than you have now by doing this.
I think thats exactly what was going on, as soon as we would hit vtec the power would just drop. It made 310 whp before vtec, as soon as it kicked in, the power dipped, then only pull up to 350whp by the end of 8200 rpm, i gotta get the dyno up to show you guys.

this happened durring one of my tuning sessions as well. my 2nd with the s2k to be exact. the tuner insisted the vtec crossover was to be around 4200 because thats where turbo s2ks usually benefit.

well, the powerband looked like someone shot it in the chest when vtec hit. it dropped bigtime, then stumbled to climb again and continue making power.

he monkeyed with it some more, and finally ended up setting it at around 6100, and all the crap went away.

BUT!

it only smoothed out that spot in the powerband. the overall HP was waxed because the f#4%ing idiot i bought the turbo from had ruined it, and bought an ebay wheel, slapped it on there, and sold it to me..... the turbo was terribly out of balance working like crazy(sounded like a vortex in time was going to open up and suck the whole shop down). and make whack-ass power. like 380whp at 18psi.

i have a much different setup nowand will be going to get tuned in sept. should be 10,000 times better.

I would put a stock headgasket on no need for the 3mm head gasket if you got a tuner who is comfortable tunning it. like jeff evans

there is something wrong wiht the setup. 350@18psi is not normal AT ALL. either mani sucks or turbo is crap, but something is F#@%$#@D up.

evans is extremely confident tuner. thats not the problem. and the 3mm HG is not the problem either. if anything, he can crank up the booost and make up the lower compression difference.

but the car is not responding well to boost. something aint right.

Thanks guys, well if the manifold is the problem, which i think it is, how much more power you think i can get out of it if i put the stock HG back in? I would love to throw another manifold on there, but then i would have to get my down pipe and charge pipes customized.

If its a poor manifold then I think you need another one, changing the HG back to stock is not going to help. Look at pfab or some of the other top mount units. I would also look at just doing a mase hotside.

I was thinking of using a turbo simular to this.
Post dyno results when you can!
