Use the OEM sock. If you use the Walbro, you will have problems with your gas gauge like I do. It only drops to 1/4 tank, then stops, so you will never know how much gas you actually have below that 1/4 mark.

I did a lot of research before I installed my Walbro 255 and it seemed like everyone agreed it was better to use the OEM filter sock. I just used my old one. The Walbro was much longer and seemed like it would cause issues with the fuel gauge levels because it hit the arm.
does anyone have any advice on how to get the clip off that holds the fuel filter to the bottom of the pump? just pry with a screwdriver? i dont want to break it. thanks

If you're referring to the itty bitty round clip thingy that goes over that little post, just use a small screwdriver and slowly walk around it while lightly prying it up as you go. Then, just use a small, like 4 or 5mm long socket to push the new or old clip onto the new pump once you have the filter on. The new filter should have one of these itty bitty clips with it but if it doesnt, just reuse the old one from the stock pump filter.
