Default Walbro & Stock Fuel pump side by side PICS

Well today I went out side to change out my stock fuel pump with the Walbro 255 that came with the kit. Low and behold another obsticle for me. The fuel pump would not seat properly because its to long by maybe 1/4 inch.

Can you guys tell me if yours look the same as my stock one. If I were to trim the white plastic shaft it would fit but I don't want to do it unless its a last resort. Let me know what else may look different. Thanks!

Top one is stock. the white piece is what the top of the fuel pump goes in. Thats possibly what is holding the fuel pump to sit in place to fit.

yea its common you have to kind of twist it in a way for it to fit, just make sure the sock does not hit the gauge that tells you when your low on gas

Phil: Have you had any problems with the vacuum/fuel lines?

Isn't the FPR #2 in this pic?

I know that the FPR is somewhere in the fuel tank on the MY06. If #2 is indeed the FPR we have another issue because I don't see how that can be inserted into the Walbro fuel pump. I have a couple solutions for various scenarios:

1. If #2 isn't the FPR, then there won't be an issue with that part. If #2 is the FPR then the system should automatically be converted to a return fuel system.
2. If the Walbro fuel pump will not seat properly (i.e., too long) we could either: (1) make a spacer to account for the 1/4 gap or (2) go with an inline fuel pump.

Either way I will be converting to a return fuel system; the time at which I do so is unknown.

I don't know if #2 is the FPR. I'll go check later. The problem is #4. The tip is to long by a 1/4 inch. Basically the metal tip on the Walbro. If the tip of #4 is shortened it will fit. I was trying to find Walbro's telephone # so I can ask them if they have a different one out for 06.

I haven't connected all the vacuum lines yet. I'm waiting on my intake to come in and I need to figure out how I'm running all the lines from the MBC, wastegate and lines. Let me know how everything is going with your kit and possibly what they're going to do with these little problems. I'm planning on returnless also but need to find out everything before I do it.

If #2 is indeed the FPR then we are dead in the water as far as using the Walbro fuel pump without converting the system to a return fuel system. If #2 isn't the FPR than we are good there. Modifying #4 (i.e., cutting a portion off) doesn't sound like a big deal.

Converting the system to a return fuel system won't be too hard. We need:

1. Aftermarket FPR (I'll be using the AEM FPR)
2. Aftermarket fuel rail (I'll be using the inlinePRO fuel rail)
3. Custom fab'd fuel line that goes from the FPR to the fuel tank.

Hey Phil--does the part that I circled (I believe it is a fuel filter) go on top of the Walbro fuel pump?

It looks alot more complicated then the diagram shows. The part you circled is the fuel pump assembly. It holds the fuel pump. Thats what I'm having problems with. I can get it to seat correctly. So i'm going to shave down #4 just enough so that the fuel pump which is under #24 can fit properly. I can take some more pics of it because I'm going to go work on it right now. The fuel pump goes in the circled object then #9 secures it in there. Give me a call so we can talk.

How did you guys solved the problem with the Fuel pump?

I have a 2006 to and I want the vortech supercharger on it. My engine management works fine on my 2006, its a Unichip piggybag system, so that won't be a problem...

Can you run a Vortech kit with stock fuel pump to?

Thanks a lot!!!
