Walbro whine
Driving around in the car today and it is high ninties with high humidity. I generally NEVER drive the car with the top up. 99% of my driving in the car is top down but today I had to make an hour long drive in the heat so I had the top closed and the air on.
Car behaves fine, never see weird lean conditions, almost a little rich on the wideband because of the heat. But after the 70 mile drive I come off the freeway, turn off the radio, and the blower fan and the walbro sounds peculiarly loud. I never notice it because I am always top down and always have the radio on at low volume and never hear the thing but now it sounds really noticable when I have everything off. Sounds like I have a cicada behind my seat.
I don't think it is a ebay copy. Never had any problems. Still have over 3/4 of a tank. When I went around a corner and gas would slosh to one side it would get quiet only to whine kinda loud when straightened out.
Anybody drive with the top up a lot and think this is normal? Just kind of a hypochondriac.

I have a hardtop so can hear my walbro constantly, the whine does change pitch/volume from time to time..This worried me also at first so I did a search on here and found that most people also experience this and its pretty normal.
When my walbaro gets hot, on hot days when you've been driving for a while, the resistance increases on the pump and it can start to whine. It usually happens when you're nearly empty, because the fuel keeps getting recirculated, and the gas keeps getting hotter and hotter.

If the noise really bothers you there is a solution.
I just changed mine out for a FB340 and that sucker is quiet.
I can not hear it prime when first turning on the ignition and I can't hear it running.
It is just flat out quiet.
