Hey guys, I have been experiencing some issues regarding my wideband, Its not showing me steady afr's anymore. I get all kinds of indicators such as wide sweeps from full rich to off the charts lean wile cruising, I sometimes will get what looks like normal afrs wile under some load but then as rpm increase or hitting vtec the wideband will just show --- like when its off the charts lean and then take a long time for the afrs to show up again after lifting, just kind of random stuff, slow to respond or just totally inaccurate in general with brief normal afr glimpses in between the madness, but I get no indication that the engine is running poorly.

I'm wondering if the AEM wideband 02 needs to be replaced after 3 years of use. Maybe the peak injection I have been running for the summer has caused the sensor to foul? Anyone have this problem? Do you think it could be an electrical connection? I cant think of what that would be. A bad 02 sensor would be my first guess but I would like to hear from you guys on what you think and if you think the peak could be causing it to fail pre maturely. I did pull the sensor out and it looked relatively clean, no soot or deposits like I was expecting to find. Thanks much

I ran the PEEK stuff for around 10,000 miles and I did not have this problem, and I was in Boost spraying ALL THE TIME. Not sure if it helps or not

The blue dye did jack up a lot of stuff in my car, but it was all intake side. Thats why I got ten gallons of pure Methanol and mix it with distilled water now. The -20 Peak was easy, but caused problems. That said I don't believe it will do anything on the exhaust side as its been burned up...the only thing I can think of is that my injectors were clogged with the blue stuff causing them to remain open too long giving me extra rich conditions. Switched to pure Meth, no more rich conditions...but if it was rich enough for long enough it might cause fouling of the wideband sensor prematurely...Also running leaded race fuel will cause it to go bad.

No problem...though I hope they are the same type of injectors you are going to switch out...for obvious reasons or else you'd need to re-tune! I just cleaned mine and switched to the straight meth mix and problem never returned. As far as meth suppliers I just found a standard chemical supplier in my town and they happened to have it so you might want to try that...just a hint that might save you time since I called about 20 performance shops looking for meth to no avail...in case you were going to go that route. Good luck!

Good to know, thanks!

Stock injectors? And your FI setup has enough potential for detonation that you need the water/meth injection? I didn't think they were capable of handling enough HP to need meth. What setup are you running?

Hey Chris,

I think this would be a good reason to drive down to PDX and join us on the dyno day. Just stay out of Vtec when you come down.

Jokes aside, I think it would be worth the $60 or so to throw your car on a dyno, and have them just slowly rev up with the shop's Wideband plugged in and see exactly what is happening.

I'm using meth as a secondary fueling source to handle the extra psi as well as the added buffer the cooling/detonation suppressant it provides. Unconventional and not ideal in some respects, but beneficial in others, it works pretty good if you are comfortable with your set up and watch things, I do all my own work and tuning, obviously a good working wideband is a must.

Comptech SC, I was running 10psi but dropped down to 8psi until I can get this sorted out.
