was the coolant problem from running the 2mm headgasket ?
Good question. I'd like to know what happened also.

I keep seeing people getting well over 300whp with relatively low boost! Does the manifold really make that much of a difference?

The manifold design makes a HUGE difference. I would bet that from the sh*tiest design to the best design(both with the best possible tune on same boost) there would probably be at least a 50 whp difference.

Whoa! Damn. I just saw the price on the full race manifold, I'll stick with my -50whp and just up the boost to offset the difference.

I don't believe you need that much boost to achieve 400 whp. Cody at LoveFab is now building me an equal length manifold and tested it yesterday. With my T3/T4 60-1 turbo, he said that on 8 psi it's going to be real close to 400 whp with the AEM.
If you think you can hit 400hp only running 8 pounds you'll be disappointed. Boost pressure is boost pressure. The only differance is how fast you make it, and how cool and dense the air is as it enters the engine. On an S2000 you can figure as a rule of thumb that for every psi you make (on a well tuned system) you will make between 10-15hp. But remember that where you live (elevation and temperature) plays a big part in how much power you can make.

Edit: That 10-15hp relies on what you have done with the car. Any head work will increase that number. Also the exhaust makes a differance. But it's a good guestimation on how much power you can make

IMO 15-18psi with stock internals and only a new headgasket is pushing itYo might want to go with spring retainers, valve springs and head studs.
Becasue you are droipping the compression of the cyclenders with teh gasket there is no need to worry about upgrading the valve train. If you wanted to run stock ratio than yes you'd want to change those parets out for the extra compression you'd be adding by the boost. Our stock internals are actually pretty strong. We have forge pistons already, and with the expection of the 2-hole banjo bolt motors, can safely run desent amounts of boost. Examples are Sideways running 14psi on a stock motor, no gasket. He does have the head work done though to compensate for the extra pressure, and Wannabuy if I remember just ran 14psi on his completely stock motor. But I don't recommend that

How about 10psi on stock internals?

I ran 9psi on my Vortech with no problems...but that's a SC and didn't make full boost until 9000rpm. I'm not about to tell you it's ok to run 10psi all day long on a turbo with a stock motor....it's your engine, you need to decide whether or not it's worth the shot

If you think about it, putting a thick headgasket is a cheap way of building your block with low comp piston etc. so you can run more boost. But snice some of us dont have the cash flow for a built block and so forth.
there are people out there that have the cash flow (me ) but live in a place where building your engine is a big NO NO (wont go into details of Middle East mechanics) . So if you have some news on the headgasket cpar, let us know I did not even move the car with the LoveFab 8psi and want more boost already
