Default What route to go with my motor?

Well im pretty sure my pistons needs to be re-ringed.

I am happy with the power i made and i don't really think that I am going to need any more Lol.
my motor has 105k miles on it, so it's turning into one of those "while you're in there, ya might as well..."

I am thinking of buying new oem pistons, rods, bearings, and rings. Since i have the head off i will obviously doing a new headgasket and arp headstuds.

retainers are not cracked or anything but i will probably also do some supertech springs/retainers unless someone thinks another brand is better, or if another brand is equal for a cheaper price.

also some maintenance things such as billmans TCT (mine is ticking a bit) , new seals and gaskets and such. (spark plug, intake manifold? any others to do? should i just get a whole gasket set lol?)

I also need a new battery because mine has to be jumped everytime i try to start with my AEM. Whats a good replacement that is a full size battery? yellow top?

I am also going to be replacing all of my turbo related vacuum lines as this is the reason my motor took a shit. what is a good alternative ?

i figure this will cost around 1500-2k max to do and leave me with a basically new s2000 Motor.

thanks for the help

Just texted you, and we will probably talk about this there.

If it were me, I'd be shopping for another stock short/long block.

If keeping engine stock just buy another used low mileage engine. If rebuilding an oem sleeved 2.4L stroker from inline pro.

Yeah but what else is a necessity to get? Water pump? Oil pump? I've got an extra f20 I just pulled out to put a f22 in, and wanted to build it.

Yes I should probably get a new oil pump and water pump so everything is brand new
Joe I would try and find a longblock but you never know with used motors I don't want to take any chances again :/

Just build it, aftermarket rods pistons etc should run you less than 1500 including maching if you assemble it

i dont know if there are any places around here that can bore an FRP block

GOOD NEWS!!

(maybe lol)

went for a drive today to maybe blow some smoke out but it didnt work. Well anywho, since i was driving around with the hood closed, all of the smoke was blowing thru my firewall and into my face lol. Yes it sucks, however it smelled of COOLANT !

when i got back i popped my hood and there was coolant around cylinder 4. leaking out from the head. blown headgasket !! Yes !
I am maybe thinking now that my head may have just lifted which is what caused the problem.
when it did the 30psi pull the afr's were at 10.0 and timing was already adjusted incase it did happen. i dont think the motor could hold it for a prolonged period of time but it was cutout right away as soon as it happened so the head gasket probably blew in the process.

i know i at least need a new headgasket lol, but hopefully that is the cause of the problem. when we did a leakdown it was escaping thru the clyinders. im not sure how accurate my harbor freight gauge is or even if an accurate measurement could be had because of the headgasket but 1234 was 30% 25ish% 30% 40% which is all still close to each other which i suppose is good news.

after i pull the head off i think this is when i will decide what route to go. if it's just a blown headgasket obv im just going to replace that and a few other things and head back to the dyno.

if there's more carnage than i thought, i think I'm going to take it off the road, sell everything and do a bigger build probably.

i am hoping it's the first option.

Make sure it didn't warp the head before you install it with the new gasket
