I never ran an oil restrictor with my journal bearing turbo, I dont think it is necessary.

^ Yup its not needed, i asked inline pro myself. They only use them for the ball bearing turbos.

actually maybe i should rephrase my original question..

i put together my setup about a month back and was plagued with all sorts of random ass oil leaks in the relocator and from the turbo. the turbo wasnt clocked badly and the return line was big enough but the turbo leaked incessantly from the gear housing. now it's burning oil and i have to get the thing rebuilt. if not the restrictor, what else could have caused it to leak like that?

Sometimes that happens with precision turbos, other people have also had this problem. Thats why it is recommended to go ball bearing. I am not sure why we dont use restrictors with journal bearings, but i was told not to.

Contact the manufacturer and ask them what oil pressure they recommend.

i called them and they had no pressure suggestion...they just said dont use a restrictor and everything will be a-ok. now it's burning oil like a mofo.
