Default What is this sound I am hearing?

I installed my KrankVent Mini set yesterday and it worked fine... the oil dip stick was harder to pull out and all. But when I got in my car I heard this knocking/clunking sound coming from the engine bay. I don't know exactly where its coming from but it's pretty loud. I just got the car tuned at Church Automotive a few days before and it runs great, even after this noise started. I am not sure if it is because of the KrankVents or not... Might just be a coincidence. What is this clunking sound?

Could this be something serious that I should take care of right away? Because I drive my car two days a week to school and back about a 50 mi round trip. I don't want to mess up my motor. Any help would be great... thanks!

Could be the krank vents hitting something depending on how you installed it. It could also be something completely else.

I thought that was it too... but i lifted the krankvents so that they weren't hitting anything and it still made that clunking sound.

Just a guess in the dark, but could you be having an exhaust leak? I see you're running an AEM EMS. If you removed and blocked off the exhaust recirculation pump on the intake manifold (not sure the correct name for this part) it could be leaking which makes a 'clunking' sort of sound. I've had this issue. Doesn't really seem to affect the performance of the car, just sounds bad.

Does the noise go away when you pull out the dip stick?

Ok I took my car out today and when I got home from school I took out the dip stick and the clunking went away! Then when I put the dip stick back in the clunking comes back. What could this sound be?

Very odd...if you do find the krank vent is faulty and you bought it from me, let me know. I'll replace it for free.

Then don't worry about it. You've got a good tight engine. The sound you are hearing is the rubber seals around the spark plug tubes vibrating due to the vacuum caused by the Krank Vent. Your piston rings are good and tight.

Kane, this is normal for the KrankVent on an engine that has good ring seals. The vacuum gets so high at idle that the plug tube seals are pulled down and the vacuum is releases a little. They then seal again and the process is repeated. It gives off a popping sound at idle.
