Default What Is Too Lean for S/C?

I have a SOS Base kit with some bolt-ons and will finally get a chance to dyno it tomorrow now that my clutch has been upgraded and broken in.

With the base kit and adjusting the RRFPR, I understand I won't be able to tune out minor fuel variations. With my wideband, I usually see a spike to 12.2/3 at 6200 rpm or so, but then it goes 11.7 - 11.9/12.0 the rest of the way.

I assume the spike for such a short duration is fine, but what's the leanest I should go? Assuming of course, I'd be making more power by going a little leaner.

I think SOS suggested or shoots for under 12.0 for over 2-3 lbs of boost.

Let me know if i can provide any further details on my setup if that helps answers the questions.

That sounds like a lean spike at vtec engadgement, which I believe is normal. Can anyone else verify?

VTEC with the SOS Base kit kicks in at 4500.

Right but the SOS kit fuel/timing management is a piggyback device correct? If so, the stock mapping would still exhibit the dip. I'm just speculating here I'm not familiar with the kit

You're correct and that makes sense.

So dips like that don't sound like a big deal, but what AFR should I strive for w/o going too lean, whatever that is?

Give SoS a call and verify with them, but if you're saying they recommend 12.0 that sounds right

imho, 11.5-12.0 would be fine.

I see mid to high 12's with my vortech at redline. Would like it to be a bit richer but I'm not TOO worried with it as long as it doesn't get any leaner.

From what I've seen SOS AFR's are between 12-12.5. I talked to Brian at SOS recently about this and he mentioned this range, but you may want to verify this.
