Thumbs up What's needed to make 350hp, 400hp?

NOTE: Please correct me if I am wrong - below is what I have picked up from spending time reading about other S2K's FI builds, and resulting power.

300hp:

Have read enough posts to know that with a Comptech or Vortech running approx 6.5-7psi, you don't need to purchase injectors, EMS add-on, etc...... Pretty straight forward (and relatively inexpensive) way to making 300 rwhp (Dynojet).

350hp:

Stepping up to 350hp seems to add quite a bit of expense (if someone could chime in on just how much above and beyond the standard axial s/c kit with aftercooler, I would be quite interested). Appears statis compression must be reduced, and most inexpensive way is via a 2 or 3mm head gasket. Up the boost to 9-10 psi, new injectors, EMS, additional tuning.

400hp:

Starts to get real expensive - head work required (valves, porting, more) - probably not in my budget....... But again, chime in.

Not really considering turbo, based on relative simplicity of s/c setup and less worries.

For those who have started with the standard Comptech or Vortech kit with OEM injectors and then "went for more", I would be interested to hear the good, bad, and even the ugly. Did your out of pocket expense increase exponentially to get that extra 50-60 hp? Was the 50-60 hp readily noticable over the standard axial supercharger setup?

It's time for me to get some new vavle train components and a new clutch.......... the rear is Comptech reinforced................. got FI on my mind........... why not get it all done at the same time.

Appreciate your time,

Mark

I'm running a stock vortech kit and I looked into upgrading the boost level and from what i found out is, I'll be spending about 2.5k total to get to 350whp.well...next step... I haven't reserched yet cuz i don't plan on going that far with this car.

Peace

Hello Mark.

Stock boost yields about 280-290whp...straight bolt on kit. AEM, injectors, and tune will net about 350whp....all this is from experience. The car feels VERY good at this point. As such in life, no one is ever satisfied (in general).

Soon 14lb pulley and tune hoping for.....400whp.

Someday, see you at 500whp!

Is this on a Comptech kit? How much did everything (parts, tuning) cost to get to 350whp?

After the kit installed, you will need; AEM EMS, injectors, and a tune.

Consider spending $2500.00 for the step up, and security of doing it right.....good luck.

Vortech...
You don't need a bigger pulley or anything? How much boost are you running to get around 350 whp?

For 350rwhp...I used a stock pulley(5"). I will soon upgrade to a smaller pulley(3.8") in an attempt to conquer 400+rwhp...

Erick

Soon, it will all be for sale. The turbo bug has bitten......
