Smile What's up with Alaniz? Is he dead?

Hi,

can anybody tell me if Alaniz is still alive? My head and manifold are there for his work, I sent both over at the end of August.

He claimed he had an exchange head available so that would shorten the time. Sent it over in 24 hours delivery (cost me a fortune from Europe), but then I heard nothing. When I asked him via email two weeks later what the status was, I got an answer three days later that he hadn't started yet.

So I waited another two weeks as he promised to finish his work. Once again no contact from his side, so after asking again he said it's almost done, but quality takes time, which I agreed to (as I want quality too).

On 24/9 he replied to me that the head will be done Wednesday/Thursday the following week and he would give me payment details on Friday.

Guess what, nothing happened, I haven't heard from him since then, I called on every possible hour, I sent a now bit frustrated email on Tuesday 7/10 what the status is. Just called him 5 minutes ago and still no one answers the phone.

Is the guy dead or what? Has anybody an idea how I can get my stuff back. I'm currently in Las Vegas so it's a long drive to Gardena, otherwise I'd try personally.

Is his shop still open, is he still in the business? I read about these kinds of complaints on the forum here before, him not hoding dates and not giving any update at all, but this is really getting strange.

Is somebody living in the neighbourhood and can drive up there and ask for me? Would be a great favour!

A very frustrated customer,

Andreas

Andreas,

I can confirm as of last week he was still alive and I hope he still is, being he forgot to send me my cam's and hardware. After a very patient four month ordeal with Joe, I have just received my head and intake mani, so my only suggestion is don't schedule any work around Joe's promises.

I will say after receiving Joe's work it look's damn good and I'm fairly pleased with what I see, but everyone know's the true test is in the performance and I a bit away from that.

I would suggest you contact him on his cell 310.977.2972 via texting and message's, that worked best for me. Also somewhat abrasive e-mail's seemed to get his attention.

If I had to do it all over again, I probably would. I would just hope that I was given more realistic deadline's rather than the 7 to 10 day one I received when I called him. My car has been down for well over a year, so what's another 4 month's - RIGHT?

Any who, I would suggest you also wait till your head was complete before paying in full. I received an invoice and a request for payment in full 2 month's prior to my head being complete, thinking he was finished. Shame on me for that.

I hope this reply doesn't come across as if I'm trying to bash Joe, because I am not. I just wanted to share my pain's with the S2K community, in hopes to better prepare Andreas and anyone else that may consider Alaniz in the future.

Cheers

Oh and by the way,,,,

******Joe, if your reading this - PLEASE send me my cam's and hardware, I'm putting this thing back together next week and I kinda need them. [B]

He's always taken forever to do anything, and been very bad about meeting deadlines, promise times and responding to e-mails and phone calls.

I know of one S2k cylinder head he had for over a year.

I haven't received parts from Alaniz for more than 3 years and actually I don't count on receiving them.

Good luck to you guys with your builds, hope it will work out for you.

wow, why do people continue to go to someone who does business like this? i can't believe he still has a good name...i've heard some people swear by his work. even if he does good work, he deserves a bad name just because of his extreme untimeliness. maybe he will clean up his act if people stop sending him work.
