What's up with Alaniz? Is he dead?

It took me over 4 months for the first head that I built. He sent it to me without cams and towers, hardware ect. Then it took 3 weeks to get that and he only set me the towers. Then I had to wait for the cams. Just keep calling and trying. Sorry man

Wasn't there a Seinfeld episode about "Don't disturb the delicate genius"?

There are tons of stories on this site about time and communication issues with Alaniz. After all that, I would still send my work to him, based on his reputation for good work.

It seems like it would be a good idea to use Asura or some other middleman to push the work thru with any of these "delicate geniuses."

I don't buy that "I'll wait years for good work" crap, when there are plenty of other as-good or better options available.

I can think of probably 4 local machinists that can do good work on any motor they come across, and usually have a 3 week turnaround.

Unless he's flow benching, cnc machining, and has a team of engineers on every head he's working, there's NO excuse for making people wait for that amount of time.

I see nothing has changed in the last 4-1/2 years. He does good work but he is very unreliable and always way behind his promises. Good luck. In my opinion he should be stricken from this forum.

Andreas,

I can confirm as of last week he was still alive and I hope he still is, being he forgot to send me my cam's and hardware.

I would suggest you contact him on his cell 310.977.2972 via texting and message's, that worked best for me. Also somewhat abrasive e-mail's seemed to get his attention.
Just a quick update, send him a text message and he answered now that he will contact me tomorrow. Will see what happens, but whatever is the quality of his work, I'm frustrated by his untimeliness.

The only good thing is, it's the head of my spare engine, otherwise I couldn't drive my car.

Your stories are scaring the shit out of me, I just want my head and manifold back.

I'll keep you posted

Andreas

Don't count on him calling you. You will need to contact him again if you want to talk to him.
I dealt with him once and once was enough for me.

Everyone says good work?? I flow benched the intake with .5mm oversized valves that he did on a past setup and it was below the benchline in areas. And the valve job looked a bit sloppy. Some good and bad in the setup. Just get keep trying. I had to be firm to get everything back and never could get a flowbench data.

I wasn't going to say anything but since you mentioned

My local head builder ended up getting my head just for insurance. I almost bolted my head on the engine when I got it from him.

MY local builder stated that the valve job was really sloppy and the valvetrain was not to specs.
