Default When and when not to use oil restrictor?

Trying to put a turbo on a friends car and i am debating on weither to use an oil restrictor in the feed line or not? The turbo has wet float bearings and is oil cooled only. I know i used a restrictor on mine but it was water cooled and ball bearing. His turbo came with no paperwork. I dont want to starve the turbo for oil but, i dont want to blow the seals out of it either.

You could always ask the turbo's manufacturer.

That would be great if he knew who made it. We called the company who sold it but got a guy who could barely speak english and told me that it depended on my application. I argued with him and for a little while and told him is had nothing to do with my application it had everything to do with his turbo. But he just kept telling me that it depended on my application .

Usually Ball bearings are the turbos that require a restrictor, atleast with garret and precision turbos.

Generally speaking, conventional journal bearing turbos want copious amounts of oil. Especially when it's also oil cooled. You don't need to worry about running a restrictor unless you've got way too much oil pressure.
