Default Would you do it

DP
What's going on guys? I'm in between if I should keep my hood or take my friends carbon fiber one off his hands. I'm buying his turbo kit from him and he has the DP going through the hood. I'm asking for some input and keep in mind this car isn't my daily.

Pros

Will reduce weight with the lighter hood and not running an exhaust

I could sell my 3 in and make some money from it

It would save me the hassle of having to reconfiguring his down pipe to run under the car

Cons

If I ever sale the car and convert back to stock would have to find another hood

It'll be loud

IMO don't feel it looks as clean and will leave exhaust on the hood

From what another friend said looks like he has to clean his windshield a lot because of the exhaust.

What to do if it starts to rain and I would have to make something to prevent rain going into the DP while the car sits.

If you drive on the street, I wouldn't recommend it.

Some good points here and that's what I was looking for. I'm picking up my Daily as well as the kit. Tough decision because even though I would use it only on the weekends I would still like to park it say as I go to the gym or my GF and I to the beach. Issue is it rains ALOT in FL.

What's your guys as thoughts on maybe fabbing a round cover for the DP that I could put on or off when not in the car? Yes it will be in a garage when not in use.

Do not do it. Have a new downpipe made. I hate when people run a downpipe or wastegate dumptube through the hood, it screams civic riceboy. Plus you have to take into account the gf. The downpipe will be dumping on her side of the window, so more than likely the smell will bother her and get in her hair. He was fine running it because he has a hardtop, this setup is not for top down driving or driving in general, it is a drag setup.

I think its a terrible idea any way you look at it.

Even with a cover, it will turn into a pain in the ass faster than you think. Do you really want to take time to cover your "stack" every time you park the car somewhere

I couldn't leave my car anywhere without worrying about it. Who's to say some little asshole doesn't toss something down in there while you're parked, come back, fire up the car and PEACE see ya later turbine wheel. Nope not for me.

You guys have steered me clear of running it through the hood. Josh I didn't even take into account the smell and hearing my GF complain as we would go for a drive. Ill what you said was the icing on the cake. Didn't expect to make my mind up so soon but thanks guys!

I ran this setup on my previous build (dp through the hood); the dp would 'spit' water/soot on the windshield (and hood) during cold starts. The sound was pretty sweet though lol. Here's a pic for reference (both tubes were cut flush with the hood):
