Thumbs down WTF, is my Headgasket blown or not?

SO I get back from the beach house after a nice weekend and I pop the hood and see the overflow almost empty. I decided to try and bleed the system one more time. I popped the rad cap (no pressure when I opened it and with a little pump pumped fluid into the heater core opening until it started to overflow from the RAD. SO I put the Radiator bleeder funnel and start the car. After about 15 minutes I still had no heat and then I started to notice quite a few large air bubbles burp in the funnel. I let the car run for about 20 minutes the temp is hot as balls here so the fans were on the whole time and coolant was steady around 187F. I got very hot heat.

Now I shut the car off filled the overflow tank to MAX line and after a few minutes I opene the RAD cap and the level went down but no fluid was being taken from the overflow tank. I have the SPOON RAD cap, I hope it is not F-- broken.

Anyway I decided to go for a little spin. I almost gave up when I was sitting at a light and saw the coolant go to 203F, it is one of thottest days of the year so I kept a close eye and continued. As soon as I started to drive Temp dropped to around low 190's so I then did some WOT pulls to see what was what. I did 6-7 WOT highway pulls and sure enough with each pull the TEMP immediately dropped down to low 180s, average of around 185F I drove for a good 20 minutes in and out of boost and the whole time the heat was very hot and temps while driving peaked around 195F at slower speeds and peaked at 203F at idle in traffic, but on the highway it was 185F or so.

I am still going to do a compression & leakdown test but wont be able to until Friday the earliest, going unther knife tomorrow (Wisdome teeth )

Thoughts?

I don't believe 203 is really that bad. Thats just my opinion. I have had my AEM say my temps were around 217 before on a few occasions and never had anything bad result. I had to rewire my fans as they weren't cooling properly, but 203 just isn't that high.

we will see. Fingers are crossed

Other thing I was not able to go to the Honda Dealership so I was in a jam and put Prestone 50/50 (for all model cars) in the system when I flushed it. I wil get the Honda stuff this week, but will my car exploded for the time being?

Resist the temptation to drive it until you get a proper diagnosis. It could be a small problem you turn into a big one.

I know, I just wanted to see if I could at least get the air out of the system, I just don't know if I am going to drive the 45 mins to Minitoyoats house, or use my Last AAA Tow

Cruise it and just watch the temps.
I'm still driving mine since its my dd. It only seems to be a problem when I beat on it.

^

How much beating does it take for it to get to where it starts to overheat?

I did a few Higher gear WOT pulls and it stayed right around 185

Only thing I am worried about is if I blew the gasket from Cylinder to cylnider then it may take some time before air once again gets into the cooling system. Looks like I dont have an oil in the coolant or vice versa so if it is blown, probably coolant going into cylider and burning up (no white smoke yet from exhuast)

Average temperatures for MOST cars, stock or not, can fall anywhere from 190-210 which is normal, specially with this heatwave we have coming on the eastcoast.

Another reason why I don't mess with the radiator cap and only run stock, is cause the stock spring in the cap is full of awesomeness

Joey,

See if you have a mechanic friend with a coolant tester to see if there is any exhaust gas in the coolant.

Also don't fill your overflow tank up, just put it to the minimum so that when pressure builds, it has room to go to the overflow without actually over flowing it.
