2007 Civic FD2 Type R vs. AP2 S2000...

man, that s2k driver sucks. Braking too much, off-line, jerking the car too much (no wonder the tail was wagging).
you people are kidding yourself, there is absolutely no reason why the civic couldn't be as fast as the S2k, and I guarantee you that Daisuke Ito is a much much better driver than anyone on this site.

Here is another vid of an S2000 getting smoked by a JDM CTR and giving an NSX all sorts of trouble at Tsukuba. The CTR is no joke

^bingo...CTR or really any type-r should be very close if not as fast as a ap1. Simply put, AP1/AP2's are not that fast and are much harder to explore the limits of relative to an easy to drive FF-R.
hell my old slightly modded (coilovers, sways, weight reduction)160hp rsx kept up with many 200-220hp cars.
while the driver is very important...dont think for a second that s2k's can dominate other hondas.

I think that's kinda' harsh considering that the s2k driver is Daisuke Ito, 2007 Super GT Drivers' Champion, for the ARTA/Super Autobacs NSX team. Oh yeah, Tsuchiya is his actual boss as the team's race director.

The vid is more of a race between 2 people. Of course you're going to drive off-line when doing wheel-to-wheel racing. Hand Michael Schumacher the S2k and he may or may not have beaten the CTR, who knows, who cares? If you want a fairer comparison, do a time trial only between the 2 cars and see which is quickest since that's what people want to see.
Of course, it wouldn't be as fun to watch then wouldn't it? And I NEVER implied that those drivers are slower than anybody on this site. I'm sure if you pit Ito in the s2k against someone with less track experience (like me) in my Dallara/Mugen f394, I'm sure he'll pass me up without much fanfare as a good driver in a slow car is always faster than a bad driver in a fast car.The CTR is more than capable, no doubt about that. Honda has always done an incredible job with the Type-R cars, particularly in FWD platform. I'd like to see it go up against the beloved S2000 Type-S (ie. CR stateside) just for kicks.
And don't think I'm some deluded fool who thinks the S2000 is the be-all and end-all of all Hondas. I own the current gen Civic sedan myself (not a CTR or RR mind you) and love it.
also its blessed with the Type-R treatment, i wish there was a pure type r S2000 coupe with further weight reduction than the CR and some exra HP through better exhaust and intake flow. now that would be a real monster on track.
