It could be worse, really.
A few years back, about to start a class to an english speaking audience, I told them that if they were to suffer a call of nature, they could exit through the door at the end of the room and find the restroom "on" the corridor.
Luckily, the first person to exit did not take me litterally, and kindly warned everyone that the restroom was not on, but off the corridor.
English, a tough language...
