If you had read the entire thread, you'd know that he upgraded his restraint system- not degraded it. A person that simply removes/replaces the steering wheel only IS an idiot. This is not what Nick did.
FYI, if you ever try to claim insurance for injuries sustained, be it from your insurance company, or someone who hit you, and they see there is no airbag, YOU WILL NOT BE PAID. Not worth it. Upgraded restraint or not. (Racing harnesses ARE NOT upgraded restraints.)
Glad you made it out ok tho.

A 72 corvette does not have airbags, using your logic, if I were to recieve an injury in that car I would not get paid??
A 34 ford does not even have seatbealts, I would not be covered then either??
I also have to find ill logic in you saying that Full race harnesses are not upgraded restraints. Have you ever been sinched down into a race car?
There is no substitute or comparison between any production cars restraint system and any car with even minimal race restraint upgrades. Hell, even G-locks would afford you much better protection than a regular seat belt, with airbags or not.
I think there are some missing sentences in your insurance explaination. Something along the lines of "if they compared the car in question to a stock S2000 and found out it originally came with airbags but this car was modified to remove them, then, the victim would not be covered etc etc" Then, your comments would have made more sense.

No...if the car didnt have airbags, thats one thing. If it DOES, and you took it out, and then claimed neck injuries, they can legally deny your claim.
That is exactly what I said was missing in the original post I quoted.
