Well, i'd like to place an air intake, but i don't like the 'gap' in front of the engine where the OEM airbox used to be. are there any solutions for this?

So the basic question; pics and brands of intakes that 'fill the hole'
If you're looking for an intake that will maximally fill the "gap", try ASM:

Honestly, I do not know. When I had mine, there were probably only 2 or 3 in the country. I think Tommy, "I Don't Wait", did a group buy on these but I am never sure if he got enough customers to make an order. I sold mine to "s2kbruin" that lives in L.A. I wish I would of dyno'd my car when I had it on. It made amazing power for just an intake.

I thought the same way when I had my AEM CAI, so I filled it with this:
