[QUOTE=shadwsndst,Dec 23 2007, 11:46 PM]what really sucks about people like Diez...
They have too much:
-Money
-Time on their hands
-Superb Taste.
Really though, I hate being a young kid in this SPOCOM world with an incredible platform like the S2000 having been introduced, all though i own one its not the way I want it.

I am a bit of a minimalist when it comes to my design motifs for my cars, and I am a bargain shopper, to say the least. Seeing some of the parts put on this car make me want to cry, as I will probably never have the guts/balls to do it 100%.
Being a "Import Tuner" I find myself tortured by the mod bug, and spend hours finding the right part to do it right the first time... often times the right part is the most expensive, because of its quality but often times because of its rarity. I love the subtle looks of JDM design I believe they complement the body better than any German or American pieces could ever hope to accomplish. I bought the S2000 because of its understated presence, timeless design, and its driving feel.
My eventual build will be centered around a car built on function. One that I can enjoy driving around town, and gives me a raw and direct feeling with the road. There is a certain freedom, for me at least, that is synonymous with driving a roadster at night. My first two mods where centered around instant gratification: K&N intake, and Trust Ti exhaust, both being relatively cheap solutions, that will be replaced once I finalize the design idea of my car. Alot of people throw parts on their car without any real design theme or style, merely because the parts are rare or popular. but to incorporate reoccurring tasteful color themes, with parts that are functional and beautiful is no small task. The true connoisseurs of this board, Diez included, have incorporated timeless design into their vehicles.
What I am trying to say is that for all of you that admire this car, as I do, need to be mindful of what our passion is all about. Building a car of impeccable taste takes time, money and most importantly dedication. Design should be reincorporated into all aspects of a build and once a particular idea is conceived it should be followed through, whether you are building a track monster, show stopper, or just a cruiser. Cars that will be remembered as well as revered are a reflection of the owners that build them, incorporating a part of our personality and affection for the culture and cars we love.
Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas
