It cost him $150k to build the one-off. With some semblence of a production model (with available parts to build the car), the cost to consumer should be less than that.

damn that thing is fast, but the porsche and ferrari sound sweat. why was there a rolling start for the CGT race?
I'm assuming that the rolling start is to give the gasoline cars some chance due to the following fact about electric motors.

...Peak torque@0 rpm with electric motors....

Interesting and impressive but lets see the Carrera Gt or the Ferrari's motor in the electric car's shell and then see who wins.
I think you've missed the point. It's not the weight of the car that makes it faster. It's the electric motor.

Electric > Gasoline

Electric > Gasoline
No, it is the weight of the Ariel that allows it to be so fast. If you were to put the CGT engine in it, I'm sure it'd be absolutely amazingly fast. Hopefully in the future electric engines start to be developed to perform very well, but from a sheer power/speed perspective, the engines in those exotics perform much better than the Ariel's.
It is very awesome that an electric powered car can take down those exotics, and since it's in an Ariel, you know it has the ability to out-handle them as well. I'm very anxious to see electric motor technology like this progress in years to come.

Very impressive, until the guy in the Ariel tries to race to 180 against either of those cars. Or even 120 . . . I would also think that the (supercharged) gasoline Ariel is faster.
