Well, when i purchased my car back in January it had some items on it that i didn't like. the mastergrade CF mirror covers and the mastergrade snowplow front lip. Though i didn't like it the alternative at the time was to remove it, car looks like any other AP out there and its scarred up pretty badly under there. well saturday the gods helped me out in their own unfair, hurtful, way....
Ok...so me and girl didn't eat all day, so we cruise up the coast looking for something that catches our eye....we end up in Laguna beach, but wasn't interested in sitting in sunny PCH traffic so we hit Broadway/133/Sand Canyon.....beautiful road...anyways we go to the Spectrum in Irvine, Eat at Yard House...around the time we are finishing up we get a call from our buddy ash who recently purchased an 03 Z4 he wanted to Hit Ortega Hwy with the tits out (tops down) and have a little fun....
So we leave, valet pulls up, but its such a nice day i say screw the Freeway, and headed back to 133SW to Laguna Beach...we're just cruisin along...Farrari in front, mini van, me and some pickup in back....I start to see little fragments of tree brush and leaves on the road....suddenly my girl grabs my arm and YELLS...."TRASH, TRASH" all i see is a very small jumble of leaves, then the Farrari and van swerve irratically and without time to think I run over a HUGE FU*KING burlap bag of Landscaping debrit....you know sticks and leaves and sh!t like that....well I'm pissed.....but continue on....about an 1/8th mile up the road i start to smell burning rubber and then a dragging sound....I pull over at the next turnout, behind a Masserati that obviously hit the bag too. I get out and my CF on the pass. side is off its mounts and sucked under the car getting chewed up by the road and my tire....not only that, but the areas where the lip was are all jacked up from past rubbing and my tire has a nice little chunk of broken CF lodged in it....
I didn't have any tools except a 3/8 wrench I took out the bolts that i could with the wrong size tool, got pissed and in a rage I stood up and proceeded to stomp the lip off my car....dangling by a few middle bolts I grabbed the drivers side and pulled til it broke in half, then did the same with the other side......my day was ruined, but my buddy had the cure....a little spirited driving on Ortega was my fix....after i cleaned, waxed and buffed my nude bumper we hit the road....my girl took video but i have to do some editing before i can load it up for you guys but heres my damage......what you have been waiting for....pic are huge....deal with it...
BTW I also ordered an OEM style CF front lip from MVP for $275 shipped.....
hope it comes soon....
Dude, I feel your pain. It seems of recent around me we've been having the same problems of shit getting on the road. It seems like no matter where you go, there's always some trash or other crap on the road just aching to mess up your car. SUCKS!
yea it does suck....I wanted to swerve but there was on-coming traffic..
it doesnt look that bad there because i didnt shoot the whole bumper but its all scratched and scuffed...plus those mount holes are ripped out so im gonna have to figure something out for the new lip.....any one have experience with MVP?
