rite on Buntin, this is the same method I did for my M3 back in the day as well as how majority of the euro guys black out their grilles for their bimmers never had flaking or issues on the front grilles for 7 years of ownership on the M. just make sure it is applied properly and w/ atleast 3 coats of paint minimum after the primer, the clear coat can just be 1... or i guess 2? i just do 1. cheers! *shrugs* don't know about the quality and look of plastidip. In person... this method looks like it was purchased like this, as well as permanent.

Plastidipped about 10 months ago, seems to be permanent... I wash the car often occasionally hitting it with a pressure washer after night time drives.

sweet, looks good. I do remember seeing someone at a meet who did their s2000 badge w/ plastidip and it just looked cheap and dull vs the stock black CR s2000 badge, maybe he just applied it wrong? My honda badge matches the quality of the oem CR s2000 badge in black. Anyhow, I just took the method I already knew of 7yrs ago that have great results and already experienced.

To each there own, looks good either way. And to be honest I actually had to plastidip the emblems about 4 times before I got desired finish, luckily it comes off easy when first applied.

Nice!!!

I'm in the process of doing the same thing but on my Berlina. I ordered the CR side emblems and painting a set of spare f/r emblems. If I don't like it, I have the Black Chrome set to put back on.
Sweeet, will look nice and stealthy on a berlina. How does the black chrome set look in person? the emblems are smaller yeah? i always thought about going that route but then decided to do a DIY.

I've had the black chrome emblems on since weeks after I bought the car which was back in March '00 so I can't remember if there was a size difference. Lol. But I really like the BC emblems, it's much darker when you compare it with the regular ones in person. But I wanted something not so shiny and like you said, Stealthier. Funny too that my method is similar to yours. Painting it with coats of Flat black and finishing with a Satin clear. I don't want it that shiny but don't want it too flat either to give it just that little bit of contrast. Just finding the time to put them on the car now.

Plasitidip mine and it still looks good after 18 months. Cheaper than buying OEM CR emblems. After the plastidip I just applied two coats of clear to brighten up the dull black so its semi glossy. Now I'm thinking of de-badging my car.

^^^ go check out ricks' DIY guide to removing emblems on their site.
very easy instructions. depending on what year you have, the front emblem might be a pain in the ass becuase of the clasps in the back youll have to cut..

that paint will eventually fall off once you hit summer time and it warms up.
i painted mine like that the first time and it was flakin off shortly after.
chrome does not like anything on it.

you have to soak the emblems in bleach for a few days to get rid of all the chrome and then scuff/paint.

looks good though.
