If he shooting for sub-10s he needs a cage. If he traps above 10's the stock hoops work, but if he traps greater than a 135 but still above 10's he still needs a cage per NHRA rules.

That's if he is going to compete legitimately. There are plenty of cars running 8s/9s with zero safety gear in the mid-west/east-coast. If it is a test and tune night most track officials will look the other way and if the owner wants to run without safety gear so be it.

Are you going to have a fire suppression system and chute as well? If you are going to cage it for 8.9, you might as well take care of these other items as well.

Arnold, Blues2k, has a very nice looking cage/fire suppression setup!

Understandable.

Are you also going to have the following safety items?

driveshaft loop
scatter shield (goes over tranny)
fuel system shut-off

Driveshaft loop taken care of.

Scatter Shield will have to be done as well as fuel system shut off.

Main focus for now is the cage.

I don't know of any off-hand, but I am sure there are high quality stereo shops that could make some out of CF or fiberglass.

Even after DSR cleaned this thread, crap has continued to filter in. If you have something personal to say to the OP, PM him.

Friendly disagreement with the direction of the car is fine, but slander and threats will not be tolerated beyond this point.
