Very nice! I've driven (and loved) both. I test drove my dad's 335i coupe with him and subsequently talked him in to buying it. We worked out a deal that I could buy it from him in a few years once he's put some miles on it.
I don't think I would replace my S with one (if they were worth a similar amount), simply because they are very different cars that would have different purposes for me. However, if I had to choose between the two, the practicality AND the power of the 335i is superb, and it gets pretty good mileage, too! It is no wonder that the engine has been winning awards ever since its inception.

I was more referring to the M3 since they guy said he had one on order then cancelled it for an S. Who cross shops a 65k dollar M3 and a 34k dollar S2k?

Besides, too many jackasses sell and drive BMWs. No offense to anyone on here, but, without question, too many use it as a status symbol or license to drive aggressively on the road.
Just like those idiots who think that all s2000 owners are ricer kids huh? Hell all those lambos and ferraris must be a POS too then eh?
For the record, it is cool to realize that the s2000 is such a fun; but its kinda stretching it into the denial range when you start saying that it is a DOWNGRADE. Unless of course 98% of the car enthusiasts out there are wrong and you are right.

That is a perfect reason to hold it against a car and how good it really is.

With the S2000, just running through the gears at low speed is fun. I
I think a lot of people view the BMW as an upgrade because it is a more luxurious interior, more expensive, more powerful, more sought-after brand, etc. But, when I thought about it, it really wasn't any fun at all to drive. A big compromise in my opinion.
I also used to own an Elise. That, too was sort of a piece of sh!t. Uninspiring motor, sloppy transmission, interior held together by double sided tape. Just wasn't fun to own.
All this, just my opinion, of course. Just trying to help those that are considering "trading up". By my experience, if it's for practicality or prestige, fine. But don't be surprised if you miss the S2000 for driving pleasure.
S2000 was a fun car. i really enjoyed for 6yrs since bought it new. modding s2k was real fun. VTEC with 9k redline and GT35R turbo. oh man. i really do miss it. but where i live. northern VA. owning modded s2k wasn't real fun. i always get pulled over everytime when i take my s2k on the road. for exhast, front tag, tint blah blah. it was just too much headache. also i coudln't pass state inspection, and emission due to EMS. but other then that it was a great car.
but now. i'm in love with 335. i hardly drive my 350z now. it gives me comfort, luxurious, and the performance (without spending over $12k to get some torque and the horse power)
