i was wondering if this was ever going to be finished
Sinji, I wouldnt leave you hanging like that. C'mon man, you have to have faith.
Alejo, the metal bars under the plastic are steel, so I dont think you can anodize that, plus, they are really skinny. So, I dont think that would be a hot look.
Good for you, not giving up and all...I'm sure it's gonna look kick ass when finished. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
I really appreciate that. I wondered whether I should even post these because I know the majority of people are sick and tired of reading about my failures and broken timetable on getting these babies done. I feel like I'm getting close on this one, now.

I know I'm a day late and a dollar short ,but I'd like to see/hear what's going on.
Kudos to you for perservering on a unique/painstaking mod.
I took the separated rollhoop assemblies to the foundry yesterday, but I wanted to post some pics of the pieces that they are using for the molds.
I went in after I split the pieces and dremeled out the majority of the supports inside. I was surprised how close they were to the bar that runs through the assembly. The last thing I want after I weld and put it together is the aluminum knocking against the centerbar over bumps. The aluminum will be much more rigid then the original ABS plastic, so I dont need all of the supports.
The pieces also fit together in a type of tonque and groove assembly, so I had to eliminate the tongue and fill in the groove. That way, there is a flat surface on both pieces to weld together.
here you can see ABS sheet I zap-a-gapped into place and bondoed in. This will give me a plate on the bottom of the rollhoops to screw up into from the plastic bases.
I am scheduled to get the raw castings (welded and basically sanded) next week. Then I will do the final surfacing and cut my new set of rollhoops to hold these. I am going to then drop the aluminum hoops off at the polisher, then the anodizer.
