Default Dubai AP2 NFR! - AP1 SSM Sold!

Hey guys

Just wanted to change a few things on my 100k+ SSM 2001. Thought I would keep one thread for the few changes I have planned. This is a daily driver, and the roads here are always under construction, so this is as low as I can go!

Comments criticisms and death threats welcome....

Before

Change 1.
I had LE-37's as you can see, but after running race pads for a while, the dust was in ground and I kinda got bored with the look anyway. Decided to get them powder coated a completly different color. I dont like matt black rims, so inspired by a friends wrapped Aston Vantage, I wanted to go Matt silver sort of color. It came out a bit more battleship gray, but it has really grown on me. It doesnt look like primer by the way!! its a 35% gloss and in sunlight gives a tealy gold shimmer over the gray. Painted the rays lugs matt black and got some stickers made locally. Sorry about the rusty brake disc!

Once I have all the changes in place I'll do a trip round Dubai for a photo session

18th June

Adjusted the V1 sides a little, got a windblocker sticker, and polished up the headlights a bit more, so wanted to go take some pics to show the wheel color a bit better. The mega tower is the burj khalifa, tallest building in the world.

Thanks for looking

More to come:
AP2 front with APR splitter or just AP1 front lip and smoothed out
Retrim seats - would ideally get Brides

Sept 2010

Ill do a bit more of a write up later, as Im seriously tired, but here is my ap2 frame and OEM liner for the glass window. For now, I am more than happy.

Was chuffed to have done it all on my own apart from 15 minutes in the middle when my buddy helped me put the new roof inside

Before

During

After

This is the Burj Al Arab - 6* hotel on a man made island. Behind is the 360 bar, and on the horizon is Atlantis, on the Palm Jumeriah.

This is literally the opposite side of the road from the above 2 pics. Shows the difference between Dubai now and 7 or 8 years ago!

Opposite side of the palm, showing the apartment blocks up the 'trunk', and Ottoman Palace on the Crescent.

Hope you like

So I ordered a lip from the US, and along with painting this got my headlight washers color coded like ap2's. Ideally i would like to smooth the front end, but I like having the original paint all over, and we have to have a front plate, so still considering my options. I am hoping maybe to go ASM front only.

Also bit the bullet, and whilst getting some new front tread, I dropped the sucker around half an inch, maybe just over. Its pretty low for the roads here but I prefer it much more as it is now. Also fitted some new front alpine speakers and tinted the side windows to match the rear.

Here how she now is:

2nd March

So, got asked to do a photoshoot for Wheels magazine here in dubai. Its not like being in hondatuning or anything, just a 2 page job on me and the car. Pretty chuffed as I guess they chose it becuase its pretty rare here; ive only ever seen 5 or 6 in three years. So i just got a couple of snaps at the moment, will put the magazine photos in whn i get them

And here is the small feature...told you it wasnt much! I am trying to get hold of the pictures from the shoot so i have the full collection to post.

3rd August

I did something I thought i never would, and sold the SSM Ap1. I took a look at some options, and ended up with this low miler 2008 NFR!! Love it. A lot more usable as a daily than my ap1 (which was also a DD for 3 years) and the color pops right out in the sun here. Mods will come in time, but will remain fairly stock....for now.

DEC 2011

Front spoiler and rear lip added, and side emblems removed
