so other than trying to be different, what is the benefit of this setup? (A benefit that would offset the weight gain in front of the front axles.)
Twin charged enigine has a few benifits and some disadvantages. The main reason to do it is you can run an ungodly sized turbo. You use the SC to spool it, notice the position of the turbo in regards to the exhuast manifold. This also helps keep heat down in the turbo. A disadvantage is you have to wait for the SC to build boost before the turbo spins. Being that that is a roots blower though, it wouldn't be as long as if you where running exhaust gases, and you'd have way more CFM of air to push it.

Cool set-up

His spool time would be almost nothing (much faster then just the one big snail) but, damn, trying to tune this thing must be a pain in the ass.

And lord help him if he gets an air leak somewhere, he'd be chasing it forever!

But I bet it'd be fun to drive!

I read a little about this a while ago on a DSM board. Apparently, it has a huge turbo, and the supercharger is used to spool the turbo at all times.
Haha, I noticed the WTF as well...

A well tuned turbo EVO can put 500+ to the wheels all frikkin day. The added "benefit" of this rig is suspect in my mind. Seems more like added complexity and headaches and not much more. But props for originality.

Meguire's sponsered Integra back in the day was supercharged as well as turbo. There were plans to put a kit into production, but it fell through due to the complexity of the kit not to mention the cost!

That looks insane , but you have to wonder if it is worth all that work over just running high boost with a big turbo.
