I've never been overly fond of "kit cars" for the simple reason most "look the part" even if done by those in the know. But there are exceptions here and there and one walked into work today at lunch.
A friend I work with sometimes (Greg) just finished his Cobra (Factory Five Racing) project and brought her by for my viewing pleasure today. He's put a lot of time, love, and attention into the details and it shows. "Little" things like putting a mirror finish on every piece of aluminium in the kit - even the ones that don't show:
He built it to be "somewhat" controllable. Has a Crate GT40 302 putting out about 365 horses and about that much tq. Don't know how much the car weighs yet but the tubular space frame only weights 350 lbs.
He's also documented the whole build. If you have an interest take a look. Greg's Cobra
It would still be fun to have something like this in the garage. Even tho its a kit car it would still be tons of fun to drive and own. I dont mind people building kit cars unless they try and pass it along as the real deal. Beautiful car none the less.
Price is relative on so many levels.
He didn't mentioned the cost and I didn't ask (his wife was with him - he would have lied for sure ). The best I can do is point you here to nose around. Just found out it's under 2200 lbs!
I would have chosen other wheels also but he really likes these Halibrands with the blue. He certainly could have done worse.
