Same thing happened to me I was going to bring the tire back but then I realised.... It isn't the tire it's because it rubs on the Bumper clips the metal bit and it cuts through the tires!!!!!

It's hard to tell. I've actually had a set of tires that were OLD and they got cracks on the sidewalls exactly like this. I've also had tires that I've torn up from rubbing on the front fenders. These look like a mix of both...IMO
However, look at those fenders - they look PERFECT!

If you look at his fenders, you cans see that his fender liner is hanging down a little, probable because hes missing a fender clip...and the only way you lose a fender clip is because of rubbing.

mine look like too, but much more obvious cuts. Its rubbing, its not the tires fault. I had it on my drivers side, rotated the tire to passenger side and in a few weeks i had the problem appear on the new tire in the drivers side position.

I recend my original statement, taking a closer look it seems that this may be a rubbing issue. You can see where the actual tire is rubbing on the fender liner.

It must have caught something and made that strange cut. I still think that cut is pretty odd, it must have been made from a couple of different passes of the tire, in other photos it is at a different angle.

What is the offset of the rims?

As several people (who happen to have the same issue with their tires) posted, it is due to rubbing on the fender. if it was dry, there would be many little "spider web" cracks (they don't really look like spider webs, but are smaller than what was pictured here) plus he wouldn't be missing chunks of tire like that from a 6 year old wheel (unless it was under extreme conditions).

Shouldn't this be in the wheel and tire section? off topic, but I'm getting tired of seeing topics that don't remotely belong in sub forums maybe I'm just pissed off at something else But you will get better response in the Wheel and Tire forum than from the people in the Gallery. just sayin

these are clear cuts, a tire will never be like this from itself

I had almost teh same cuts on mine, on my car, the cuts came from the center metal clip which usually holds the fender in place
