My beater ('95 Fiesta diesel) was pretty much free as I got the price I wanted for my del Sol plus the Fiesta thrown in !!

That MR2 is VERY nice for $800 though

 

just a thought, shouldn't your beater be a FWD car so that you can drive it in bad weather ??

 

Your beater should be a car cheap enough that you don't have to worry about it getting dinged up.

I have an 1987 MR2 with almost exactly the same mileage. I have 169,3xx miles on mine. I am the original owner. It serves as a beater car although lately, I have been having trouble starting the car in wet/snowy conditions. This morning it didn't start, I had to aim a hair dryer at the distributor to get it started. I am just glad it got me thru this winter, although this winter doesn't seem to want to end here in the northeast. I also happen to have an extra front passenger side fender in silver. Mine was damaged in an accident so I bought it from a guy in Chicago. But then I happen to find one in a junkyard matching my color, beige metallic. If you are interested let me know, although shipping might be the biggest problem. Have fun with your 2.
