Default got rear ended today

so i got rear ended, not my fault, got the information, called her company (progressive) right away and they said the claims rep will contact me on Monday to square away everything for my appointment at my chosen body shop on tuesday. my question is does anyone know by the looks of it, will they just repaint my bumper or replace it? i would much rather have a brand new one but do they always try and do they cheap way out? it isnt cracked from what i can tell just paint transfer and missing paint. any way i can get an aftermarket bumper???(considering it may be cheaper than oem? ive never priced oem, does anyone know?)

It all depends... if your bumper is only slightly scuffed they will most likely just repaint it. Thats the easiest way to go about it. If the bumper is cracked and needs replacing anyways you can usually request the cash to source your own parts but that will completly depend on your body shop and the insurance company.

Out of curosity why would ou want a completly new bumper if yours is only scuffed? It doesnt look like there is any actual damage, and after a good bodyshop takes care of it you will never know anything happened. In addition to that keeping the bumper you have also keeps the vin number that it tacked onto that bumper so you still have all your original parts (if thats something you care about).

if you wanted to be a jackass, you could take a sledgehammer and wrap a towel over it and give it a good whack. if you wanted to be be a total jackass, give the exhaust a good whack as well and put a nice bend in it. just my .02. not saying that either is a good idea, considering im not sure how much info you exchange with the other driver/insurance company.
