Yeah but remember the GTR the 350Z replaced? That thing did pretty well and this should only be better. Granted the JGTC car and the road car are usually distant cousins. Better than the NASCAR bastard children though....V8 RWD Fusion...ummm no sir

First and foremost it's not a street car. JGTC cars are tube-frame cars with push-rod suspension and rarely share any chassis, suspension, or drivetrain with their production car counterparts.

First and foremost, I never said or implied that JGTC/Super GT cars were anything other than purpose built racecars. Why you felt the need to post those facts(despite what is common knowledge), I will never know but more power to you.
First and foremost, they use different tires.

...might as well since you kicked it off with something that's common knowledge

A few things...

The Porsche was an automatic, and comes with crappy Continental tires. The R35 comes with near-R-compoung tires, and an automated manual.

Give the Porsche equal tires and a proper gearbox and it should hang with the R35 no problem, if not beat it.

Also, to whoever mentioned the Nurburgring lap in the R35... they cut out the last straightaway of the 'Ring, making the lap (and video) about 6-8 seconds shorter, so that Nissan can claim it's faster than similar cars around the Ring. In non-BS'd-time, the R35 is right there with a Z06/911 Turbo/Ferrari 599.
