i think that would be an awesome idea

 

An awesome idea but less practical than it sounds. having multiple skins is way too much maintenance, that's why we only have one.

 

 

It sucks but it means that I need to make changes to X number of templates every time I make any change. If the software was more or less stock that would be one thing but it's not and it's going to change a lot more before we are done with it. It's like maintaining multiple web sites.

For example I'm doing some changes to PMs. I need to make those changes to every skin. If i have 1 I make them once. If I have 3 I need to make the changes 3 times, once for every skin.

 

Nothing like waiting til last minute.. here is a peek at one I've been working on.. still want to tweak it but you get the idea...

 

For what it's worth, I really like that line and the fact that each part of it is a one click link to various parts of the forum. I hope you can find a way to keep it more compactly rather than reducing it to a popup button.

I was going to use the tach display on the far right, but I couldn't find a good image of it so I temporarily placed the ITBs there instead.

well my explanation:

-i wanted to use something with the colors currently on the site which is the blue.
-i also wanted to tie it to the car so i made the nav buttons the same as the buttons in the car with possibility of rollover and indicator lights.
-the fonts look kind of funny because i used system fonts in areas that i wasn't sure if we could go custom such as the new pm, username, #'s chatting and some other areas.
-had some better design comps that i had to scrap cuz they would not stretch at a certain point without the graphic looking funny. this comp will stretch for forever if you like, this one is more functional than my others as well.
-there is also room to the right of the icons for expansion.
-i left you an area where you can change the car out every month with the month listed in the areas as well for archiving purposes. i'm sure i can squeeze some stats in there too, but that would come later.
-lastly, i am not so happy with the panels where the buttons rest or the icons because of the deadline, i would have like to color everything in orange faded when off, lit when active.
and that's about it.
