Enlarged 200% to show detail. I hope you guys like this one. I spent five hours tonight making this from scratch in vectors.

Compatibility: Can be coded in clean, cross-browser code. There may be a couple slices needed though... All of this fits in 800x600, and I can add more links if needed.

The image on the right is from a board member. I can either track him down and get his permission or swap out the photo for another (in fact, that image could easily be made random with three lines of PHP and some time in Photoshop).

I vote for flitcroft as well. The best, and has most to do with an s2k.

I like flitcroft's idea of the random picture formatted with the header.

 

got my design sketched out now I just gotta get my camera out and take the pics I need and get home and get some photos I have.. and hope nobody takes my idea before I get it out.

Thanks for the compliments. As far as the random image, I'd probably just have the image's blend end a little farther to the right. Here's one that Dave gave me permission to use, at 100% size. I still may change the bottom right. It's not quite there for me yet.
