Wow, excellent work so far! This is turning into a heated race! Dark Sub you better giddy up!
Flitcroft, your elegant use of the gauges inspires me to use them for something. I'm not sure what but they look prime to be used for something useful (users online?). I like the "dashboard" theme, it's right along the lines of what I had in my head. Spreading the indicators around is a little problematic but not really, I can make the effort to make that work if the design is awesome enough to justify it. It looks like the designed we have do merit the extra effort so no worries. The design does a great job of blending both the functional requirements of a complex control panel with graphical elements that make it appealing and S2000-centric which is exactly what we need.
Randomizing the image is easy and if your design wins we'll do it.
I still like therookie's design as well. It's clean, functional and pleasing to the eye. It's a real toss-up.
I think in the end, once we narrow down to the top 4 or 5 designs, I'll run a poll in S2000 Talk to see which design gets the nod rather than just unilaterally picking one. This gets me off the hook of having to say sorry to some really talented work
I'll give it another week and then take the best of the best and put them to a vote. Thanks everyone who has put in a lot of time and effort on this project! Everyone will benefit from your efforts even if your design isn't chosen. You raised the bar high enough to draw out the best.
Just to be clear. I'm setting the deadline for Tuesday April 19 at 6PM PDT. At that time I'll gather up the best 4 or 5 contenders and put them to a vote in S2000 Talk for another week. Hopefully we will have a new and revitalized design that most people like up by the end of the month.
Some great work. I like flitcroft's version. How about making it multi-language so when certain IP ranges log-in they get the menu in their own language? Just a thought.
The official font for the interior is Eurostile Extended #2. Not sure of the weight exactly, semi? That includes the dash buttons and printing. That is on the car itself of course.
the color palette is inviting and not over-saturated
the design lends itself to a decent theme for the rest of the site (given the fact you would want to adjust the default skin for thew boards to reflect some of the color choices)
You would have to update some of the rest of the interface graphics for the rest of the site but this design even trumps my redesign ideas I had for you several weeks/months back (BTW: did you and HondaGal ever get on the same page concerning what you wanted out of a redesign?)
Tweak it a little, maybe resize those indicators and then it is good to go IMHO
