how-to, rear plastic window static cling tint.
well, yesterday i followed xviper's very helpful thread on tinting rear plastic window,
http://forums.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.p...25&pagenumber=1
for this korean car forum i decided to take some pics,
i wanted to share it with you guys.
first you need to get...
1) scissors. (or x-acto knife.)
2) water spray, a bit of soap in the water helps.
3) clear plastic/vinyl cleaner.
4) al. foil.
5) masking tape, or scotch tape.
6) static cling-on tint film.
7) towel, or old t-shirt, or squeezy.
it'll take about 1 to 3 hours, depends on how anal you are.
before shot...
i used al. foils to get the shape of rear window.
put the foil on the window, push/rub against the window frame with your fingers
and you'll be able to get exact shape of it.
edit/add- there used to be a member in s2ki.com that sold very accurate templates for rear window.
i dunno if he still sells them, but you can do some research and find out.
once you get the shape carefully cut the foil with a pair of scissors.
this is the static cling i bought.
you can easily find it at local automotive stores,
or buy off the internet.

now put the foil against the tint film, tape it so that it won't move when you make cuts.
carefully cut the film...
tint film cut, into shape of the window.
before you do anything put the film against the window,
to make sure that it's the right size/shape.
if you are not satisfied go back to the first step.
(or if it's too big you can always trim it.)
now clean the rear window.
these are the cleaning products i used.
clear plastic/vinyl cleaner is really easy to find, again at local automotive stores.
plexus is da bomb! i highly recommend it to those who like to take real good care of plastic rear window.
you can get plexus right here...
http://www.plexusplasticcleaner.com/plexus.html

using your cleaning products clean your rear window as clean as possible.
now spray very thin, even layer of water on the window.
spray water on the tint film also.
using squeezy or towel, push the water/air bubble out from the center to corners.
(i used old t-shirt.)
depends on how well you remove water/air pocket, the tint film will stay for very long time.
it's pretty embarrassing when you think you are the shiznet going fast on highway, then see your rear window tint fly off.
done!
make sure not to put the top down for at least one or two days.
