HyperPM: Eat Your Heart Out!!!
Can one of you guys take a picture of the rear LM's standing above them, looking downward and a straight on shot from the rear? Supposely from what peeps are telling me is that they stick out, as much as an inch! Thanks.
Mav,
Just like in many other matters of this world, the people who know enuff to be just dangerous are the ones that are most vocal. Avoid them.
The rims stick out about 1/4" if you don't lower the car at all. And my deal is, if you don't plan on lowering when you upsize rims, stick with stock by all means.
When you lower the car, you're pretty much forced to run a lot of negative camber, more so in the rears than the fronts. I'm running about -2.3 in the back and with a half a finger gap, the rears tuck in just barely. To combat the tire wear on the insides, what I do is swap them side-to-side at one point in the lifetime of the S-03s and this has worked out very well for me.
In my personal experience, I'm not rubbing at the top of the fenders. I'm rubbing in that black plastic/bolt thing near the rear of the rear wheel well and you can see it illustrated clearly on socal28's website (www.socal28.com). Once you shave that area a bit, you will get no rubbing in the rears or such was my case.
The fronts are another matter, but like socal28, I only rub those in very hard dips, but I can clearly see where it's rubbing in the fronts and I'll end up finding a solution to that sooner than later.
In the end, the looks (dish!) and the respect you will get from guys who know their sports car shit is worth the initial pain of ghetto modding. There is no substitute for racing pedigree.
Cheers,
Ben
