First molding site

I was looking at this and wondered if they had copied the mugen design, Now I know.
It also looks like that the J's racing diffuser is actually a first molding diffuser and not an original J's design. Kind of explains the dual exhaust cutout for the diffuser since J's only makes single outlet exhausts. Also the original J's hood appears to be a first molding hood
Nice hood either way

Jbontym and I have Js V2 and the Mugen hoods, we both agree that the Mugen one is better in every aspect.

Jbontym actually sold his Js V2 recently, i wonder whats coming next...

to me the Mugen hood is worth the extra $$$.

Sounds like he's not to me. Considering he's owned both, I think he can be a decent judge.

I always thought the Mugen hood was dry (pre-preg) carbon and you guys say the J's is not and it costs $2,400 for wet carbon construction? What makes it harder to make compared to the single vent J's hood other than a different mold?

I can understand the price of the $2,600 Mugen hood if it was dry carbon because of the requirement of a huge autoclave and for R&D costs but I doubt J's did as much research as Mugen and just "slightly modified" the Mugen hood. It also looks like the J's hood uses a big piece of carbon to put under the vents as a rain gutter like the top secret hood and mugen has them molded in to each vent which is probably a lot harder to do.

I wouldn't be surprised if each Mugen hood looked slightly different. I compared JsAP1's Mugen intake to mine when I was installing and taking it out of Kekoa's car and mine looked like crap compared to his. His was nice smooth and shiny and it looked like they didn't even clearcoat mine and left it as semi-gloss raw dry carbon. I figure this way dumbasses won't think it's fake cuz I doubt the fake one is dry carbon, but there are also many other ways you can tell it's real.

I've never seen the J's hood in person so I can only comment on the Mugen and I was impressed with its construction and attention to detail but was disappointed in some of them I've seen because they had a line in the carbon weave in the middle of the hood. Some but not all of them have it.

I've examined both hoods up close. I personally don't think the Mugen one is worth the extra money.

The J's V hood is absolutely top notch in quality. The Mugen is too, but for its price it should be.

The J's is definitely the better value.

They didn't. First Molding copied the design, J's Racing just took some of the FM hoods and sold them at a higher price. But there is no doubt that these hoods are pretty high quality.
The J's hood has much better finish but too bad it is not DRY CARBON so for bling factor MUGEN wins.

Mugen: $2,600, Dry Carbon, molded rain gutters, race proven and tested
vs.
J's: $2,400, Wet resin carbon, rain blocking plates, proven Mugen style

for $200, I know what I'd go with!

AJ PwR, Dry Carbon is more than just for bling, it's lighter and MUCH stronger, you and I both know this.

Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt the J's hood is of incredible quality, but for it's price, I think the Mugen is the better "value". If the J's was somewhere like $1500, that's a whole different story.

Sorry this thread has turned into a Mugen vs. J's battle.
AmuseAP1, I think it looks awesome regardless. Hopefully I'll get to see it in person one of these days!
