Well I just checked my MUGEN hood in the garage and it's made the same as the J's hood is in "wet" carbon design...also called Scott at King Motorsport and he wasn't aware that they used an autoclave in MUGEN's design of there wet carbon hood.
I'm shocked that Scott would say that since he's the one who came on the board a couple of years ago and stated that fact! In fact it used to be posted on King's website see s2k4ever's post in this thread where he did a copy and paste from a now defunct link.

Remember Dan, a lot of new owners are thinking the Mugen hood is dry when infact its not. I have seen it in person. Its wet. Now their intake (which is on my car right now is dry). Its a dull flat carbon look. I have seen $5000+ dry carbon hoods on R34s in Hawaii. So I know exactly what to look for and what they look like..
The J's CF hood and Mugen CF hood cant even come close to the quality of one of these dry carbon hoods I saw on Romeo's (car shop owner) R34.
I am not sure what you are trying to say. I am showing you a link which states that Mugen used an autoclave for the Hood (Aero Bonnet). It's not what a new owner is thinking, it's a direct copy from King's website. So for Scott to claim he has no knowledge is ridiculous. I can dig up more old threads if you want where this has been discussed. Do a search on autoclave.

the Mugen intake is made of dry carbon?????

I thought it just doesnt have any clearcoat applied on it so it feels dull.

I actually PM'd Dan approx 2 yrs ago regarding to how to clean the Mugen intake...I was just gonna clearcoat it to make it shinny like the hood.

i have seen raw CF and they all look pretty dry to me.

[QUOTE=RevJunky,Oct 20 2004, 11:37 PM] Mugen: $2,600, Dry Carbon, molded rain gutters, race proven and tested
vs.
J's: $2,400, Wet resin carbon, rain blocking plates, proven Mugen style

for $200, I know what I'd go with!

Actually, the newer Mugen intakes are clearcoated. JsAP1's intake is nice and shiny. Mine is dull and not very smooth, probably like yours.
That's what thought was the case with the Mugen hood, Dry Carbon with a clearcoat to make it look nice.

If the Mugen Hood is indeed constructed in wet carbon like the J's, you should also be able to this with the J's.... (I love this picture, talk about believing in your product.)
dude my intake is nice and shinny after couple layers of ArmorAll

with all the shows Chris has to attend, i wont be suprised he mops it clean everyday. It wont get that dirty if u dont hit the track anyways.

Isn't 1100 Euro about $1400? Does that include your taxes?
