Dave might be considered a special case, though...I would guesstimate he has about 25-30% of his screen etched with something, both top and bottom. Most etchings are somewhat more simple and smaller in size.

BTW...Bryan .... Thanks for taking the time to document how to splice the brake wire. I'll be doing that this weekend . Few minutes have gone by that I have not thought to do it since you posted your helpful pics...but sadly this week has kept me too busy. Minus yard work, however, there is opportunity this weekend for me to pick back up on this project and add the brake wire .

Oh...and sweet purple windscreen . Just a quick twist of the screw, eh?

I know what you mean - like I needed more people to stare at my S I hope you get the brake wire hooked up Dave...its really easy but you just gotta hunt for that wire - its buried in that bundle! Let me know how it goes when you do it...we'll see how good my instructions are then! This project has made me a lifelong customer of Mac's S2K projects...I cannot say enough about how amazing the windscreen is and I cannot wait for the footwell project and the gauge cluster project

Just a quick twist of the screw and the color is changed...I have an eyeglass screwdriver in my glove now

If you're into lighted wiper nozzles, neon underglow kits, valve stems, or indiglo badges, there's not much different about it at all. Some people enjoy lights as their version of 'bling bling', so some of my products lean towards that genre.

I do try to add in a bit of extra functionality not seen in other systems, though. For example, how many of those wiper nozzles can have their color changed by the simple twist of a screwdriver? the screen turns red when you hit the brakes, and how many people wouldn't mind an extra brakelight?

Even if you're not interested in lighting the screen, I provide other useful features (although it would be somewhat expensive to buy this project JUST for those features). A prime example is the softtop disable switch. When the windscreen is upgraded to a larger unit (ala Rick's), there is an increased chance of breakage if you lower the softop while the screen is folded back. I have provided an automatic switch that disables the softtop whenever the screen is tilted back.

 

I don't think this mod is in the same league as any of the above mentioned. This is an articulate addition that seems like it should have been on the car stock. Having seen it when it lights red when the brakes are tapped I can honestly say that if Honda had done this type of thing stock, no one would complain.

I agree with Bryan here. This is an elegant mod that boarders on a "magical" look as the etched words seem to float above the cockpit. Just because it utilizes LEDs to accomplish its goal, should in no way put it in the same group with "LED add-ons".

BTW Bryan...thanks for the pics & additional instructions for installing the brake wire. Worked like a champ .

One slightly weird side-effect of the wiring/mod...with keys out of ignition...if I press the brake pedal now, the dash lights up slightly . Oh well...no real harm here...but Mac might want to be aware of this and offer a suggestion if this is an "unanticipated enhancement"

Mac...I also applied a bead of black sealant at the base of the mount where the lexan/acrylic windscreen rests. This bead fills the tiny gap (did this to both sides). Now no "wiggle" where it was mentioned that Rick's replacement windscreen is slightly thinner than OEM stock. And the black sealant (rather than clear sealant) was the right decision as it did not impact the LEDs' display.

 

It was unanticipated during the design phase, for sure, but it has some nice side effects as well. For instance, as Bryan pointed out the screen will flash red when the alarm is enbled/disabled, even though the screen is not directly powered...this gives a visual indication from farther away.
